Who Needs a Permit?
Under the provisions of Article XVI-Administration of Boardman Township Zoning Ordinance, a zoning permit is required prior to the construction, erection or alteration of any building costing or valued at $150.00 or more. Within business, commercial and industrial districts, zoning permits are required for new buildings, additions to existing buildings, fences and signage, including billboards. Under Ohio law, cellular towers and other public utilities are exempt from zoning regulations within these districts.
Within residential districts, zoning permits are required for new dwellings, additions to dwellings, additions to attached garages, detached garages, sheds, fences, decks, gazebos, above-ground swimming pools and below ground swimming pools.
It is requested that new business owners/property owners and/or developers please contact the Zoning Office at 330-726-4181 prior to the start of any new business opening or construction project whether it is a residential or commercial.
